The Speedometer is a HUD component featured in Driver: Parallel Lines.

Description

The Speedometer appears in both the 1978 era and 2006 era. It is introduced to the player during the introduction of the first mission.

The Speedometer.

The 1978 Speedometer.

In the 1978 era, the speedometer is designed as the iconic 1970's linear speedometers. It is colored black, with white digits, and chrome lining. The scale varies from 0 to 140 in miles per hour. As the player increases speed in the vehicle, the slider increases. A red line indicates what number the player is on/near.

The speedometer is modernized in the 2006, along with the rest of the HUD. To fit the new scheme, the speedometer is primarily blue, and is fully digital. The initial speed is displayed in the center in digits, reading from 000 to 149 in miles per hour. The speed is also demonstrated digitally through the bar which circles the circumference of the speedo. It is colored blue and features white digits and bars.

Driver: Parallel Lines's prequel, Driver 76 simplifies the Speedometer upon revamping the HUD to a new color scheme of oranges and dark reds. The speedometer itself still functions like the 1978 version in Driver PL, but is now much simpler. It reads from speeds 0 to 140 in miles per hour. The Odometer is removed from the Speedometer, where it is moved to the in-game menu. The Nitro level is found below the speedometer, reading the same 3 digits.
